CERI supported the Denver Earth Science Project (DESP) to revise and update a curriculum module on oil and gas exploration. The original module had been developed in 1991 with support from Amoco Production Company, the Jefferson County School District, Adams County Five-Star Schools, the Mineral Information Institute, and the National Science Foundation. In the process of updating, the developers saw an opportunity to expand the original audience from 7th-12th graders to include an adult education module, which is now under development.

CERI personnel have served as advisors to the Renewable Energy Advisory Committee of the Lakewood High School, which has a full year course in Renewable Energy, and is working to ensure that students in the course will receive science credit.

CERI serves on the Higher Education Panel for the Metro Denver Workforce Innovation for Regional Economic Development (WIRED) program, the purpose of which is to build innovative programs and links among educational institutions and the energy industry, to enhance Colorado’s ability to provide a well-trained workforce for the energy industry.
