CERI was established by the Colorado Legislature (CRS-23-41-114) to develop energy-related research and educational programs for Colorado involving government, industry, universities, and the public. Since 2004, CERI has accumulated research approximately $6.2 million in funding, out of which $3.8 million have been State appropriations. The difference comes from a growing proportion of federal and private funds. State of Colorado funding of CERI is enormously important because it supports key energy research, economic growth, workforce development, and educational initiatives across the state. This funding helps shape Colorado’s energy future and creates economic benefit in an environmentally conscious manner.
