Colorado has been a leader in renewable energy research since the 1970s with the location of the Solar Energy Research Institute in Golden. This facility evolved into the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) which is the nation’s preeminent research facility on renewable energy technologies. Combine this will the abundance of solar, wind and biomass in the state, positions Colorado to be a leader in renewable energy research and development.

CERI collaborates very closely with NREL, state universities and the private sector to strengthen Colorado’s competitive advantage as renewable energy research leader.
